João Mota da Costa (Lisbon, 1954), plastic surgeon, specialized in hand surgery. Began photographing in 1969, with an irregular trajectory, due to professional reasons. From 2011, he began devoting more time to photography, developing authorial work, and attending several courses at the Atelier de Lisboa, with projects guided by contemporary Portuguese photographers, and the postgraduate course in Discourses of Contemporary Photography at the Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa [Lisbon College of Fine Arts] (2015- 2016).
