Low Waste Bookbinding ::: 16 and older :::
Andreia Neves Nunes e António Rendeiro

A book can hold the most precious memories, but that doesn't mean we have to spend a small fortune on its creation or ignore the harmful effects of paper manufacturing. However, digital is not always the most sustainable solution either, nor the most lasting. Following the premise of the 7 Rs, Recycling is just the last R, before that we have Rethink and Reuse. With this course, we will learn some of the best binding techniques for creating more sustainable (photo)graphic diaries. Zero Waste is far from being a reality, but Low Waste is within everyone's reach!

Contents
- The anatomy of a notebook/book;
- Identification of the necessary materials;
- Sustainability in the choice and use of materials,
- The importance of precise cutting and associated techniques;
- Different types of binding;
- Selection of covers and different ways to personalize them.

- Constructing photographic covers with the results of the Image Transfer Workshop (only for the students who participate in it).

Creation of several notebooks bound with reused materials: simple notebook; hardcover; Japanese binding.
